72-year-old man stabbed in the back in Headingley

It happened at about 4am this morning on Moor Road.
The victim told police he was approached from behind by a man who stabbed him and then fled the scene.
The pensioner went to the BP filling station in Otley Road and told staff he had been attacked.

Hide AdAmbulance staff went to the scene and confirmed he had a stab wound to his back.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
His injuries are not considered life threatening.
A number of scenes were put in place in the area to undergo examination.
Detective Inspector Carl Morrison, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious that could assist the investigation.”
