16-year-old boy arrested after teenage girl sexually assaulted at Holbeck Cemetery

Police officers were on Wednesday morning guarding the scene of a police cordon as officers investigated the attack.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl on Fairfax Road, Beeston at around 4.15pm yesterday (Tuesday, December 11).

"The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old boy who was known to the victim, and he was arrested by officers. He remains in police custody.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13180620595."

Dog walkers had said they were left wondering what had happened after the police cordon was put up.
