15-year-old boy among 11 people arrested for attempted murder after double stabbing in Leeds

A total of 11 people including a 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were stabbed in Leeds.

Police were called to Oxton Way, Burmantofts, at 5.11pm yesterday when a 24-year-old man was found with serious stab wounds.

An injured 19-year-old man who had also been stabbed was found nearby.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are serious but are not considered life threatening.

Nine men and youths, aged 15 to 20, were found by officers nearby and were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The two injured men were also put under arrest in hospital on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police have cordoned off a large area of Oxton Way and Haslewood Drive while forensic examination and specialist searches are carried out.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “Both men have received very serious stab wounds and we are treating this incident as attempted murder.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of it or who has any information that could assist the investigation.

“We recognise that a serious incident such as this will cause understandable concern in the community and we are working closely with our colleagues on the local neighbourhood policing team who are increasing their patrols and other proactive work in the area to reassure people.”
