11-year-old Leeds girl in critical condition as man and woman arrested

An 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital - as police arrest a man and woman in connection with an incident at a home in Leeds.

Police were contacted shortly before 7am this morning by the ambulance service to an incident involving an 11-year-old girl.

The force arrived at the home in Stanks Drive, Swarcliffe.

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The girl was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

She is currently in a critical condition, police confirmed.

A scene remains at the address and enquiries are ongoing.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 6.55am today, police were contacted by the ambulance service who had been called to an incident involving an 11-year-old girl at an address in Stanks Drive, Swarcliffe.

"The girl was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and is in a critical condition.

"A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident are currently in custody.

"A scene is in place at the address and enquiries are ongoing."
