Ermias Yawhanes, 32, of Lascelles Road West, Harehills, was deemed a danger to the public this week and jailed for more than 15 years. It came after he admitted charges of rape, assault by penetration and theft of a phone. He raped a teenage student in Banstead Park in Harehills last year. Yawhanes approached her at a bus stop and talked her into going for a drink before plying her with booze. Colin Mabey, 23, of Newhall Croft, Belle Isle, was jailed for 14 months and given a 42-month driving ban after admitting aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving while banned and without insurance. Landell Browne, 36, of St Michael's Terrace, Headingley, was jailed for more than five years after admitting a charge of ABH and GBH without intent stemming from two separate altercations with his most recent girlfriend. A judge said this week that Browne had a "relish for beating women".
