The festival will be held from October 27 to 30.

Curator and artist Gillie Kleiman said: “The community dance movement, folk dance, YouTube dance classes and Strictly all tell us the same thing: everybody dances.

“This edition of Juncture collects artworks where the role of the professional dancer is given to someone else.”

Wieke Eringa, chief executive at Yorkshire Dance, said: “This work challenges both our traditional understanding of what dance can be and what it means to perform.”

Artists confirmed include theatre company Quarantine, choreographer and dancer Lucy Suggate and Swedish filmmaker Sara Lindstrom, who will make a new film featuring people from Leeds.

The full programme and line-up will be announced later this year.
