Chapel Allerton gears up for arts extravaganza

The Chapel Allerton Arts Festival gets underway tonight ahead of week long celebration of music, poetry, film and food.

There will be a film festival from 7.30pm to showcase local work and talent.

Tomorrow there will be poetry and spoken word, comedians and special guests will perform on Wednesday at 8pm.

This will be followed by a play on Thursday night at 7.30pm and music is on the main stage in Regent Street on Friday night.

It leads up to two full days of music next Saturday and Sunday with acts such as the Roundhay Ukelele Orchestra and the Chapel Allerton Festival Community Big Band.

Sunday kicks off with a Churches Together Hymns In The Street event at 10.30am.

A Village Jazz Festival forms part of the weekend programme while children’s activities and other stalls are being held in Well Lane.
