Change at council cabinet

Wakefield Council's ruling Labour group has announced the changes it plans to make to its cabinet following the local elections.

The majority of the top positions will remain unchanged, pending formal approval by the full council next Thursday, but Coun Matthew Morley will take over from Coun David Dagger as become the cabinet member for transport and highways, with Coun Dagger taking up the portfolio of modern public services.

He replaces Coun Graham Stokes, a long standing face on the cabinet. Some of the cabinet assistant roles will also change.

Council leader Coun Peter Box said: “We continue to face tough times and my cabinet and I will meet these challenges head on.”
