In our quest to recognise the best of health care in Leeds and West Yorkshire, we are calling on readers to nominate outstanding emergency response workers as part of the YEP Best of Health Awards 2016, sponsored by Sovereign Health Care.

Our Emergency Response Worker of the Year category will highlight the health workers who do not think twice about helping those most in need.

We’re looking for paramedics, air ambulance staff, first aid volunteers, emergency medical technicians or anyone at all who works in the health field dealing with calls for emergency care.

Readers have until October 19 to nominate ahead of a glitzy awards ceremony at The Queen’s Hotel on December 5.

Simon Dunn, regional director of first aid charity St John Ambulance, feels the awards “give deserved praise to those who are often bashful about their life-saving work”.

Last year’s winner Steven Hudson, a community first responder at St John Ambulance, was singled out for building up a first aid unit while devoting hundreds of hours a year to saving lives.
