Central Leeds: Serving up support at lunch club
A LUNCH club for elderly members of the community were served up a special treat thanks to Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay.
The eatery, which opened its doors at The Light in Leeds last year, raised £4,160 for the Leeds West Indian Centre Charitable Trust (LWICCT). The donation is enough to run the centre’s Luncheon Club for an entire year.
To celebrate, the Turtle Bay team helped cook and serve food to members at the club, which is held weekly and aims to offer elderly people the chance to socialise and enjoy a nutritious, home-cooked Caribbean lunch. Dr Carl Hylton, chairperson for LWICCT said: “It makes a big difference to the lives of our members. What better way to celebrate than by delivering the Luncheon Club together?”
