CATCH in Harehills wins 'best place for children in Leeds' at Child Friendly Leeds Awards

The awards celebrated people, places and organisations helping to make Leeds a child friendly city and showcased the talents, achievements and energy of the city’s youngsters.

Hundreds of nominations came in for seven categories and winners were crowned in front of 400 invited guests.

Child of the Year under 11, Taylor Aitcheson - a local tennis star who raised over £5000 for charity Candlelighters.

Young Person of the Year 11–21, Kayleigh Glancy - for six years has saved pocket money and fundraised to provide Easter eggs and Christmas presents.

Adult Making a Difference for Young People, Errol Murray - founder of Leeds Dads, brings together fathers and children to play, meet and support.

Communities and Schools Working Together, Fuel for School and The Light - brought a food market and restaurant to an empty unit last summer to provide nutritious food for those in need.

Inspiring Creativity Through Arts and Culture, Chapel FM - a community arts centre and radio station that inspires young people to achieve through art, music and technology.

Best Place in Leeds for Children and Young People, CATCH based in Harehills- a safe, welcoming environment that helps to empower young people and raise their aspirations.

Overall Contribution - Central Yorkshire Scouts for providing fun, friendship and adventure to over 6,500 young people aged six to 25.
