Care home gains '˜good' marks

A Guiseley care home has been classed as Good in all areas by regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Staff at Anchor’s Primrose Court on Orchard Way, which cares for up to 33 residents, were celebrating this week after receiving the accolade following an inspection early last month.

Home Manager Joanne Lawrence said: “We have worked hard to make Primrose Court a good care home but to be given such praise from the regulator is wonderful.”

Care homes are now classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.

Joanne added: “We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country. “We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care home - we’ll be celebrating this success.

“We are proud of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and the high levels of training and support our staff receive.”

The CQC inspection report highlighted high standards of care at Primrose Court.

The report added: “Relatives we spoke with told us they could visit the home at any time and always felt welcomed by the staff.

“One member of staff commented, “I think it is a well-run home. I’ve been to other homes and think we are more organised.”

“One person said there is something about the atmosphere; friendly and efficient. They also got lots of attention.”
