Call to join Flat Cap Friday

A leeds charity is calling on children to design a flat cap to boost funds for brain tumour research and support.

As part of Brain Tumour Awareness Month in March, Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS) is urging primary schools, nurseries and other children’s groups to join its Flat Cap Friday campaign to help raise money for the charity.

Primary school pupils and other children’s groups are asked to design their own flat caps and get sponsored by friends and family along the way. Each school/group will pick three finalists which will be submitted to the BTRS team and three overall winners will be chosen. The three overall winners will see their designs brought to life in the form of their very own Yorkshire made flat cap.

The campaign is being supported by Pudsey flat cap company Kempadoo Millar, which will also be judging the designs. Kempadoo Millar has seen celebrities such as Idris Elba wearing its creations on the red carpet.

Sorrell Coulson, BTRS events & fundraising manager, said: “We launched Flat Cap Friday a couple of years ago as a celebration of the amazing brain tumour research and support happening right here in Yorkshire. After meeting up with Rhian Millar, founder of Kempadoo Millar, we came up with the concept of getting local primary schools and groups to design their own flat cap, while raising funds and awareness of the charity.”
