Big-hearted schoolgirl Megan Rodd backing Leeds Mission Christmas toy appeal

Megan Rodd started fundraising at five-years-old and climbed Ben Nevis when she was six to raise £4,000 for Leeds Rugby Foundation..

Megan – a student at Ossett Academy, Wakefield – is a young ambassador for the Mission Christmas appeal and raised £220 by selling cup cakes she had baked on a stall she set up at Morley Market one day last month.

She used the cash to buy essential baby items for new mums and has made up 25 Christmas presents.

Radio Aire’s Yorkshire Evening Post-backed 2018 Mission Christmas appeal invites people to buy one extra gift to help thousands of disadvantaged children across the county.

Megan’s mum Michelle Rodd, said: She is amazing, she wants to help everybody all the time.

“She can’t wait to go to Radio Aire and get all the parcels set out for the children.”

Lisa Sullivan, Radio Aire’s charity manager, said: “We are so proud of having Megan as a young ambassador.

“Even though she is only 12, her passion and enthusiasm for help others is so inspiring.

“She never stops thinking about other people and spends so much of her own time and money doing so.

“She had a stall in Morley and spent the whole night before baking delicious cupcakes to sell to raise hundreds of pounds for Mission Christmas.

“We love having Megan’s support and she always has a smile on her face too, we love her.”
