Big hearted Leeds cyclist seals charity challenge

Big-hearted Roundhay cyclist Neal Larkman, 32, has biked more than 130 miles on a coast-to-coast route to raise money for charity Barnardo's Willow Young Carers in Leeds.

Neal and a group of friends raised £1,269 riding from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Tynemouth near Newcastle. Neal is a volunteer with the charity, enabling under-18s caring for disabled family members to take a much-needed break. He decided to take on the challenge because he wanted to do something worthwhile with his spare time. The teenage carers thanked Neal for his efforts by sending him hand-written cards and messages.

“I’d like to say a huge thank to Neal and his family, and all of our wonderful volunteers,” said charity manager Sylvia Shatwell.
