Bedrooms of Leeds residents to become stage for a night

Front Room Productions is kicking off 2018 with Hurry Up, Jess - a one-woman show that will tour to the bedrooms of local people in and around Leeds from March 3 to March 31.

Hurry Up, Jess is a show about friendship, loyalty, and coming to terms with loss, and which leads audiences on an interactive jaunt through the bedroom and childhood memories of a young Northern girl.

This intimate journey around a very personal space will enable audience members to feel as though they are more than mere spectators, but instead sharing a lived experience.

Olivia Race, who wrote the script and will be performing the show, explains the unconventional setting: “Hurry Up, Jess intends to push the boundaries of what we perceive theatre to be”.

Show director, Claire-Marie Seddon, said: “By using a space that is familiar to everyone, we will remove the formalities traditionally associated with going to the theatre, and instead immerse audiences in what feels like a real-life situation.”

The company has released a list of LS postcodes in which the show will be performed, but the audience won’t know the exact location of each performance until they have booked their ticket.

Show producer, Alice Barber, added: “We hope that audience members will buy into the exciting sense of the unknown that we’re creating, and embrace the element of surprise.”
