Wine wonder and woman behind The Drink Talking Sophia Luckett says she wants people to have fun but be confident about ordering and buying wine.

She said: “My goal is for people to have light-hearted and fun evenings, but feel like a savvy crackerjack next time they are ordering wine.”

The first session will be on Thursday May 24, 6.30pm-8.30pm and is called, “Wine Basics: How to become a wine ninja”.

It’s designed to give people an introduction to what to look for when buying or ordering wine. The tasting includes three white and three red wines, gives the inside track on grapes varieties, methods in the winery and vineyards and, just for fun, a little blind-tasting too.

She added: “If you have ever felt overwhelmed eyeing up wine in the supermarket or wine merchants or, like most people, have ever bought wine based on a jazzy label or solely because it was reduced from £12 to £6 then this wine tasting is for you.”

She is currently working with ex-Shears Yard chef Kian Lian on plans to stage five-course wine-paired dinner parties at intriguing venues around Yorkshire. There are just 24 places available on the wine tasting sessions.
