At least 30 Leeds residents called the emergency services to a balcony fire at a city centre block of flats last night.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they took approximately 30 calls from residents as they attended a balcony and flat on the 8th floor of highrise flats on Little Neville Street.

Three occupants of the flat were rescued by the emergency services after the fire at around 8pm on Tuesday night.

Crews used aerial appliances and high powered pans to help contain the blaze.

The fire was extinguished and the building cleared of smoke and excess water, it was confirmed.

Crews from across Leeds - including Hunslet, Killingbeck, Moortown, Stanningley and Morley - attended the scenes.

The aerial appliances from Leeds and Bradford and other specialist appliances and officers from throughout the brigade area were also in attendance.
