In June, the new Wex Photo Video store opened in Leeds and to celebrate we gave you the chance to win £2,000 of photography gear, by sharing your best photo of what Leeds reopening after the lockdown meant to you.

Wex head office decided the shortlist, with the final three selected by Leeds store staff members.

Wex in-store teams are passionate and knowledgeable about photography, so whether you are a professional or a novice, they will be able to give the advice, guidance and product recommendations you need.

First prize was the camera – worth almost £2,000 – plus £250 of Wex vouchers. Second- and third-placed entrants win £150 and £100 in vouchers respectively. All three images will be professionally printed and mounted then displayed at the new Wex store.

Commenting on the first place image, taken by Jonny, a North of England Church Advisor and avid photographer, head judge Tiffany Tangen said: “The image is composed and framed fantastically.

"The light coming in from above gives the scene a great ambiance and creates the idea of darkness turning to light as the city reopens.”

The second image, taken by husband, father and keen photographer Christopher Neijs, showcases the beauty of the empty Corn Exchange. The judges commented that “the wide angle offers a sense of the grandiose nature of the building. The framing is spectacular and the editing gives an almost painterly affect.”

In third place, Matt Light’s superbly timed photo impressed the judges due to being “well balanced, with an incredible depth of field, and giving a sense of activity as Leeds reopens”.

At 3,000 sq ft, the new Wex Photo Video location is the largest camera store in Yorkshire, stocking a full range of gear, from batteries, filters and memory cards to high-end cameras, studio lighting and printers.

The branch operates Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm; Saturday, 9am to 6pm and 11am to 5pm on a Sunday.
