Huge high street names like Topshop and Debenhams which was founded back in 1778, sadly called in administrators, leading to the closures of stores. The White Rose, which was home to many Arcadia Group brands, has been hit by closures. Here are nine stores that will not be reopening at White Rose when non-essential shops open on April 12.
Thorntons announced that it would close all of its stores and operate as online-only in March 2021. The White Rose store was the only remaining Thorntons in Leeds, after the Commercial Street store closed in early 2020.
2. Carphone Warehouse chain
In March, technology retail giant Dixons Carphone wielded the axe on its Carphone Warehouse chain, closing all of its standalone UK stores including in Leeds. Outlets inside Currys PC World, in Albion Street, White Rose and Guiseley, remain open.
3. Topshop / Topman
All Topshop stores are set to shut for good after Deloitte, administrators for Arcadia group, sold the brand and stock to online retailer Asos. There were three Topshop and Topman stores in Leeds - located in Briggate, White Rose and Kirkstall Bridge shopping park.
Menswear store Burton is another casualty in the Arcadia group. All stores will close after the brand was snapped up by online retailer Boohoo.
