Bob Parker Forever UK’s country manager said: “People have had time to re-evaluate, many are enjoying a less frenetic way of life along with the flexibility of working from home, perhaps for the first time. They are asking questions about what they want the structure of their working lives to look like as lock-down starts to ease. I think there has been a societal shift in priorities, people want a different way of working and I think the trend is only set to continue.

“Necessity is the mother of skill. As a nation we’ve been galvanized to embrace the digital world with video conferencing. We’ve adapted. Forever is no different. All our training and events have moved seamlessly online. There’s a huge raft of webinars, online support and training available to our business owners wherever they are, easily accessible and helping us all to be more productive.”

And he says as a health and wellness brand they’ve seen additional demand for their products as people prioritise their health and retail moves online, with ‘robust sales’.

Mr Parker added: “While we look forward to the social aspects of our lives resuming, in the short term this time is providing an opportunity for people to start something new, with nominal investment, and dip their toe in the water with a Forever business alongside what they are already doing. We are still in very uncertain times, none of us can predict what the job landscape is going to look like.”

Existing Forever business owners have also made changes in their working lives. Chris and Emma Leathert who live in Omagh, Northern Ireland started their Forever business six years ago, and said: “We have adapted quickly to the ‘new normal’; while we ran some aspects of our business online, events and face-to-face meetings were also a big part of our day-to-day.

“Hosting events, team meetings and showcasing both our opportunity and products via online platforms and groups has allowed us to free up swathes of time. We are now more productive, working more efficiently, and our business has benefitted as a result.

“As parents of nine-year-old twins and a newborn, having the freedom and flexibility to continue working our Forever business from home and online has meant no financial worries during lockdown.”

Hannah Gregory (42) from Chester offers encouragement. She faced mounting debt following her second redundancy following the financial crash of 2008 and said: “I really couldn’t face putting myself in that situation again. I decided to explore starting my own business but I was struggling to cover my bills. I seriously contemplated selling my house and moving back in with my mum, it was that bad.”

Hannah started her own Forever business and as her confidence grew also developed her decorating business. She says the experience made her determined to have security: “I never again wanted to be in the position of potentially losing my home and so for the past seven years I have been double paying my mortgage. I also met my now husband in 2013 and we have committed to being mortgage free by December 2021.”

Bettina Biazzo (39) from Sussex dodged her redundancy bullet two years ago while working as a flight attendant. She had started her Forever business in 2016 and had developed her business successfully over an 18 month period with the goal of being able to stay at home with her two young sons. She was about to hand in her notice when the airline she worked for went into liquidation. Bettina said: “There was no warning, no phone call, just an email at 1am in the morning saying they had gone into administration. I worked for the airline for 19 years and that is how it had ended. At that point I was extremely grateful that I had taken the leap of faith and started my own business.”
