According to magazine Future-Mag, over half (54 per cent) of graduates say they would think again about choosing university as a path to a job.

7. Police officer
Policing is another profession which the government are very keen to recruit in. There’s no formal education requirement for direct application, but you’ll have to be physically and mentally fit. As a PR Officer, you’ll help to manage an organisation’s public image and reputation. There’s no set entry route, but you can do a public relations assistant higher apprenticeship to get started. 9. Youth Worker
Youth workers help young people to develop socially and personally through local services and other organisations. You can enter this line of work as a volunteer, paid worker or qualify via a youth work apprenticeship scheme. Pay ranges from £23,250 to £37,500. Photo: Shutterstock
