Or, in other words, family comes first - we love nothing more than to dwell, making special memories with the most cherished people in our lives.

Poets and authors have waxed lyrical about it. Elvis got us all shook up singing it.

An ancient proverb, credited more than 2,000 years ago to Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder, today in lockdown it resonates as loud as ever as we crave for those missing hugs, cuddles and kisses with socially distanced sons, daughters, mums, dads, grandmas, grandads and extended families.

That's why the YEP has teamed with Rentplus - turning renters into homeowners through rent to buy - to launch a special Home Is Where The Heart Is photo competition, with an incredible family Christmas present up for grabs.

We simply went you to share your favourite family photos, to cheer us all up and remind us of special times, and we will feature the best of them.

Rentplus and YEP Editor Laura Collins will judge an overall winner and it will be turned into an exclusive work of art by our famed cartoonist Graeme Bandeira.

It's free and easy to enter.

Rentplus, thrilled to be involved, is the UK’s leading provider of affordable rent to buy homes, letting people move from renting to owning their home, without the need for upfront deposits, one of the major barriers to home ownership..The company won Most Innovative Home Ownership Solution in the National Housing Awards. Residents move in without a penny’s deposit, pay affordable rent for 5-20 years until ready buy their home.

There’s no service or maintenance charges and there’s the reassurance of a registered housing association as landlord. They can buy after 5 years at which point, Rentplus gifts them 10% towards their deposit.

The majority of Rentplus tenants are key and essential workers. All shared an inability to save a deposit because rents and outgoings are too high.

Rentplus has over 20,000 properties in the pipeline across the country. In 2020 it appointed Barnsley-based Alasdair Manson, to establish Rentplus in Yorkshire and the North East.

"We believe everyone should have somewhere to call home. Our vision is to enable aspirant homeowners to move from being renters to homeowners by removing the deposit barrier," said Barnsley-based Area Manager Alasdair Manson.
