Property news: Housebuilder supports KidsOut charity

The Question of Sport-themed quiz night took place at Leeds United’s Elland Road ground in aid of charity KidsOut, which Barratt supports.

The black tie dinner and champagne reception raised £110,000 for the organisation, and will go towards providing new toys and day trips for deprived children living in Leeds who have escaped domestic violence and lived in Women’s Aid refuges.

Each table represented a European football club during the fun competition hosted by the former England manager, which last year raised enough cash to provide 400 toy boxes and install sensory equipment at a school. Manging director Ian Ruthven was one of the Barratt employees who attended the night in his role as KidsOut committee chair for Leeds. He said: “KidsOut is a wonderful charity providing much-needed support to young people across the region, so we couldn’t miss the chance to support this stand-out event at Elland Road again. It’s fantastic to be able to say this is the highest amount we’ve ever raised for the charity. The evening is always a lot of fun with a great atmosphere, and the addition of a legendary host this time was brilliant.”

The charity’s chief executive Gordon Moulds said: “ KidsOut really does rely on events like this to help raise awareness and funds for disadvantaged children so it’s fantastic to see so many local businesses in one room helping us do that.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all who attended – we raised a whopping £110,000.”
