The 65.5 acre site is bordered by the River Aire and the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, and is located between the villages of Horsforth and Calverley..

Developers Redrow said that the site has contributed £7 million worth of affordable housing.

It also invested £948,000 towards local education and £1.76 million to provide a new bus service between Horsforth Vale and Horsforth train station, along with two new bus stops.

"When we acquired the Clariant Works, followed by Riverside Mills a few years later, we knew we wanted to build homes that respected their surroundings and would appeal to a wide range of buyers.

"We have done what we set out to achieve and now have a real mix of customers who are happy to call Horsforth Vale home.

“We wanted to provide customers and the local community with somewhere that would enhance their lifestyles and encourage them to use all the fantastic infrastructure such as the open space and paths that link the development to the local area.

"We also built two retail units that have been occupied by a convenience store and beauty salon that are run by people from the local area.”

Whilst the last legal completion at Horsforth Vale represents the ‘end of an era’ for Redrow in Horsforth, there are nevertheless still plenty of opportunities for potential home buyers to own a new home in or near to Leeds.

The Poplars and Aspen Park at Roundwood, in Garforth, are repeating the company's formula of regenerating a redundant industrial site.

Rredrow is developing the old Stocks Blocks production facility that’s being replaced with high quality two, three and four-bedroom homes, where current prices range from £234,950 to £416,950.
