Known for its characterful buildings and fantastic community spirit, Chapel Allerton has long been regarded as one of the best places to live in Leeds.

Making its way onto the Sunday Times's report on the Best Places to Live in northern England in 2018, it's no wonder the north-east suburb has seen a rise in house hunting in recent years.

Here the YEP takes a look at what makes Chapel Allerton so sought after.

The majority of sales in Chapel Allerton during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £305,892. Terraced properties sold for an average of £245,682, with flats fetching £196,152.

Overall, sold prices in Chapel Allerton over the last year were similar to the previous year and 4% up on the 2019 peak of £261,295.

Gledhow Valley Woods is a gorgeous woodland running about 1.5 km through Chapel Allerton. There are plenty of trails to keep keen walkers occupied, plus a gorgeous stream called Gledhow Beck flowing along the valley.
