'A new chapter begins': New matcha bar Matchara to open at Leeds Kirkgate Market this weekend

’We can’t wait to welcome you and share our love for matcha with you’

A new matcha bar is opening in Leeds Kirkgate Market this weekend, taking over a unit in the market’s 1904 Hall.

The green drink, which originated in Japan, has taken Leeds by storm, with new shops opening left, right and centre.

And the latest addition to Kirkgate Market is no different.

On Saturday, August 29, Matchara will soft launch in Unit 19 at the market after a successful spell of pop-ups around town.

Announcing the launch, the team said: “At MATCHARA, we believe that every cup of matcha begins with the water.

“Inspired by the traditions of Japan, our first harvest premium ceremonial matcha is prepared with care, allowing the delicate flavours, aroma and character of the tea to shine.

“And now, we’re excited to share this experience with you.

“A new chapter begins. We can’t wait to welcome you and share our love for matcha with you.”

The matcha bar will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
