I had given up on all-you-can-eat restaurants many moons ago, after one too many bad experiences in restaurants that shall remain anonymous.

Blue Sakura, however, restored my faith and has fast become a Leeds favourite. Their refreshing approach to the all you can eat concept really brings something new to the party.

Last week's visit to First Direct Arena to host a private box at The 1975 gig provided the perfect opportunity to drop into Blue Sakura for dinner. Despite the fact they’ve just celebrated their first birthday, I’d only ever popped in for pre-gig cocktails. After 12 months of seeing mouth-watering social media posts, the time to dine here was long overdue.

The first thing you notice is the eye-catching Japanese inspired décor, complete with luxurious leather booths and cherry blossom trees. It’s an Instagram dream.

As soon as we were seated, we were handed an iPad to browse what is possibly the biggest menu I’ve ever seen. But don’t be phased. It’s broken down into handy sections and is easy to navigate.

As we sipped cocktails, the first wave of food arrived, which was largely sushi. Like everything in Blue Sakura, it was all made fresh from order and tasted divine. The Torched Salmon Sushi was a highlight.

The hot wok dishes are equally as appealing.

Standouts for me were the Chicken Black Pepper and the Kung Po King Prawn which was just the right balance of sweet and spicy.

You’re unlikely to have room left for dessert, but there’s plenty of choice should you have room. We arrived hungry and left happy, with just enough space left for a few drinks at the gig. Blue Sakura is a must for anyone that loves Asian food and is amazing value for money.
