Holiday diet is ditched for Leeds restaurant Tiffin Room food porn

Tucking in at Tiffin Room with JoJo.

So, my holiday diet was going really well until my Insta feed began blowing up with some amazing food porn shots taken at The Indian Tiffin Room.

Always one for trying new things, I grabbed my home girl JoJo and dialled in a dinner date to see what all the fuss was about.

Located in the old Wagamama site on Greek Street, these guys have completely transformed the place, bringing loads of light, colourful décor and succulents into the space; in short, it looks wicked.

But, I’m no Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, so let’s cut to the chase and get to the food and drink.

First up, the effort that’s gone into crafting the cocktail menu alone really shines through. I went with the Indian Summer Passion, which is shaken with fresh basil , mango, lychee and coconut rum, creating one of the most refreshing tipples I’ve had in a long time.

When it came to the food, let’s just say we dived straight in. If you can’t decide, why not just choose a bit of everything? All dishes are inspired by street food from across India, and cooked to order from scratch with fresh spices and ingredients, and this shows. We began with the Gobi Manchurian, which consists of crunchy wok fried cauliflower cooked Indo-Chinese style.

On paper, this may sound a little plain, but trust me it was delicious. Next up, came the Machli Kebab, which was filled with fish marinated in delicate spices before being cooked in a charcoal tandoor. The fish was so succulent and perfectly seasoned, let me tell you. To finish we threw the Lamb Kashmiri into the mix and a side of Bombay Potato which again was next level tasty.

Another highlight was the ITR Mysore Masala Dosa, which is a rice and lentil crepe filled with potato masala and chutney. Again, it was such a fragrant dish packed with flavours I’ve never experienced before, and a million miles away from your traditional British Indian curry house type fodder.

A memorable evening of great food, drink and company – we’ll be back, especially given that it’s a stones throwaway from the Pink Gorilla office!
