Danny Malin column: 'I'm on the hunt for West Yorkshire's best fish and chips'
This week our columnist Danny Malin is on the hunt for the UK’s best fish and chips.
You may have seen that I launched my new channel, Danny Vs Food, this week.

After quitting as the host of Rate My Takeaway, I'll be back on a new channel, reviewing takeaways with my table and chair. It’s nerve-racking but exciting. I’ve missed all the interaction with the public and meeting all the business owners along the way.
Danny Vs Food will be the perfect accompaniment to my channel with Gary Eats, Danny & Gary.
In our latest video on Danny & Gary, we review some of the UK’s top fish & chips. I love how we often have differing opinions.
In this video, however, we agreed that the top of the list remains George-a-Greens in Wakefield and Mugatroyds in Leeds.
Wetherby Whaler wasn’t up to scratch when I last went, which is disappointing.
As my parents used to own a fish and chip shop in Barnsley, and I lived above it with them, I am very particular about reviewing chippies.
Since reviewing the best fish & chips in the UK in our last video, I have visited Kingfisher in Wakefield with my other pal Greeno Eats. Wow, Kingfisher gave George-a-Green’s a run for their money.
For Danny Vs Food, I’m once again on the hunt for the UK’s best fish & chips.
Over the past few years, I’ve visited the length and breadth of the UK from Anstruther Fish Bar in Scotland to Archie’s Fish & Chips in Kent.
I’d love to know where else I need to try, or perhaps West Yorkshire really is the home of the UK’s best fish & chips?
