Welcome 2019 Ibiza style with Leeds DJ Sara Garvey and East 59th

Party Ibiza style on New Year's Eve at East 59th.

See out 2018 summer style as the biggest Ibiza party night returns for a New Year’s Eve takeover.

The L/IT’s Ibiza Takeover Series stormed Angelica’s on summer Sunday nights this year and will be transforming East 59th’s rooftop bar into a dazzling party playground.

With a champagne bar on the terrace, table service, VIP luxury booths and after hours madness the vibe will be “enchanted, entertained and wonderfully weird.”

But no party is complete without the tunes and L/IT will install its trademark stellar full sound rig so you can fully experience music from some of the best DJs in the electronic music scene right now.

The DJ line-up on the night will welcome the return of the heavy weight London artist Catching Flies to headline, whose music draws from a wide-ranging palette of influences including jazz, soul, hip-hop, house and electronica.

It has seen him handpicked by Bonobo to provide support on his world tour and whose DJ sessions have been setting the roof on fire with a blend of house, disco and uplifting electronica.

Second on the bill will be L/IT curator and resident rising star Leeds lass Sara Garvey who brought Spanish summer vibes to Leeds all summer with the Sunday night sessions.

Garvey told City Buzz: “This is the first time I have done a takeover at East 59th and it is going to be awesome, we are nearly sold out, and I am well excited.“Myself and D&D have been talking about it all year and after the success of the summer sessions we said we will definitely do it. They offered me East 59th and it is a better location for an indoor party.”

It is a fitting way to end what has been a long, hot and hazy summer over at Angelica which surpassed all expectations.

She said: “Last year was brilliant but this year just surpasses everything. The weather helped but this was just bigger and better.“We had DJs from London asking to play and people coming from all over the UK that had heard about it. We launched it last year but this year was more established.“The whole ethos was relaxed, there was a good vibe and the people that came brought that too.”

So for New Year’s Eve she will be bringing back to the party the very best in electronic music deftly moving between, disco, soulful, afro beats to sexy underground house.

But with it being New Year’s Eve -expect it to have upped the game in the glitz and glamour stakes.

Garvey says: “I have picked the DJs that are regulars on the Sunday sessions that will be good on the night.“It is going to be more exclusive and more of a VIP experience because we wanted everybody to have a really good time.“I am playing on the night which is going to be great but I will be having a few drinks and enjoying it.”

As well as the Angelica gig, she has had repeat bookings at the likes of Mint Festival, Beatherder, Hold The Relish and Dirty Disco to name but a few and has stints in Croatia, Munich and toured Australia.
