Bar Fibre gets the summer season started with return of its Courtyard parties.

The Courtyard Parties at Bar Fibre are the place to be seen this summer.

Get ready to embrace the slide into spring and summer al fresco drinking and dancing in style as Bar Fibre announces the return of its legendary Courtyard parties for 2019.

Now in its 13th year, the popular series of events kicks off on Easter Sunday with festivities in the courtyard between Fibre and Queens Court as well as all four floors of Fibre and both floors of Queens Court too.

The tunes – house as is Fibre’s signature sound – will be courtesy of the venue’s resident DJs Dale Castell, Habbo Foxx, Josh Hunter, PJ Gardner, Tom Frost, Ben Rainey, 2orNowt, Pappy and Glenn Battersby.

Each year the parties follow a different theme and this year the edgy bar is going pink and floral, with a generous helping of glitter and face painting.The parties are being sponsored by Gordon’s Gin and, as the staple brand launches pink gin, the decor will complement that with flowers including some four feet high pink roses.

There will be a total of four parties throughout the year and if you are looking to go all out you can hire a booth in the Fibre front window to make sure you are seen or the ultimate Penthouse package.

For a cool £850 you can secure yourself entry and queue jump for up to 10 people, a reserved area for the night, access to private toilets and smoking terrace, and a £700 bar tab to spend on bottles, cocktails and more with waitress or waiter service.

It is fair to say that the Courtyard Parties have definitely expanded from the fist one as Bar Fibre director Shaun Wilson recalls.

He told City Buzz: “It started as a tiny party – a couple of decks and a table on a Sunday afternoon. There was no big promotion, we just decided a couple of days before it would be something we could do for the Bank Holiday Sunday as back then they were difficult for trade. Saturdays now take the hit as people stay in and save it for the Sunday but back then there were 200 people maximum. It took us by surprise how successful it was.“Over years two and three we expanded it and now it is one of the biggest parties in the city with anywhere between 1,500 and 2,000 people coming throughout the day.”

It has proven a winning formula and Fibre has stuck to the original plan by keeping ticket prices at a tenner and using its own resident DJs rather than sign headline acts.Clubbers get in on a first come, first served basis and queues are known to go all the way up to Nando’s.

Mr Wilson added: “At other parties like this across the city you are looking at £25, but we have kept it at £10 for years. They might have guest DJs on but that is not what we are about. We have built our name on our resident DJs with live performers, percussion and saxophone players.”

With Bar Fibre having recently celebrated its 18th anniversary, it has stood the test of time and changing trends in what has been a fast-moving bar scene in the city over the last few years.

Mr Wilson added: “Every three to five years we reinvent ourselves with a refurbishment and I think we do that more than any other place in Leeds.

“A lot wait until they need to but we put the investment in to keep people interested and keep it fresh, but musically we have stuck to our guns.”The other parties will be on May 5, May 26 and August 25,
