Restaurant reviewing at the new Chophaus in Roundhay

It’s hard to imagine a restaurant in the suburbs of Leeds as hotly-anticipated as Chophaus in recent memory.

Residing in the stunning wooden building behind Oakwood Clock on the edge of Roundhay Park, the meat-centric fine diner finally arrived with a bang in December and is already my new favourite local.

My recent visit allowed me to explore the menu even further and ended up being my best meal there to date. We kicked off with a round of their exceptional Espresso Martinis in their downstairs bar, which is teeming with atmosphere and ideal for people watching.

After heading upstairs, we were soon enjoying a selection of starters, including the Seared King Scallops with mushroom ragout and truffle, and my personal favourite; the addictively moreish Balsamic Salted Chicken Wings. With our steaks on order, we cracked open a bottle of the rich and fruity Esk Valley Merlot. It also happened to be the perfect companion to our almighty Tomahawk Sharing Steak, which melted with each bite.

Drizzled with a Wild Mushroom Cream and sided with Beef Dripping Chips, I can’t think of the last time I had steak this good. Chophaus is just what Oakwood needs.right now and I’d highly recommended to visitors both near and far. Especially with the upcoming new menu dropping next month. Put it this way I’ll be heading back very soon.
