Windle - Meet the Leeds star of TV's Fred the Steam Fugitive

He was the star of a Yorkshire Television programme broadcast in 1990 called Fred the Steam Fugitive.

Windle, whose home was Middleton Railway, was a class 0-4-OWT number 53 locomotive. He was built in 1909 by Edward Borrows at Providence Works in St. Helens on Merseyside.

Fred the Steam Fugitive was 22 minutes long and starred Paul Luty as Sid the Driver, John Faulding as Wally the Fireman and Bill Pertwee as Mr Jenkins. The narrator was Frank Topping.

It was filmed at Middleton Railway on Moor Road in Hunslet.
