This seafront-style shop front was attracting criticism from shoppers at the back end of the 1980s.

Planners were ticked off by bargain-hunters for allowing the shop sign into the heart of Leeds city centre.

The criticism came from shopper Doreen Bennett back in October 1987.

She described the front of Zodiac Toys on Briggate as "an eyesore more suited to the Golden Mile at Blackpool" and quite out of keeping with the other buildings.
