Leeds United's 1984/85 campaign featured bright attacking football and some memorable wins. Manager Eddie Gray tried to bolster his his team with striker Ian Baird recruited from Southampton for £75,000 in March with midfielder Andy Watson sold to Hearts for £75,000. The season also featured a change of goalkeeper with Mervyn Day recruited from Aston Villa for £30,000 with stalwart David Harvey moving to Bradford City after making more than 350 appearances for the Whites. Yet a season which saw the Whites finish a creditable seventh was blighted by a mindless minority.
