And they found one at Brunton Park in May 2008 thanks to midfielder Jonny Howson. He stepped up to score a 90th-minute goal and book the Whites a spot in the League One play-off final at the expense of heartbroken Carlisle United. The Whites had travelled north aiming to overturn a 2-1 play-off semi-final deficit after Dougie Freeman had scored a 96th minute goal at Elland Road to keep the dream alive. Howson hauled Leeds level 2-2 on aggregate with the opener after just 10 minutes before his left foot strike won the tie as extra time loomed. "I feel for Carlisle. They have been outstanding this season but we are the victorious ones and going to Wembley," said Leeds manager Gary McAllister.
