The day Sgt Wilko faced a backlash from the Elland Road faithful

It was a result which left the storm clouds gathering for under-fire manager Howard Wilkinson.

Leeds United went onto their Premier League clash against Middlesbrough at Elland Road in March 1996 on the back of a painful 3-0 Coca Cola Cup final defeat against Aston Villa at Wembley. And the pain was to continue for the Elland Road faithful as a Graham Kavanagh penalty after just four minutes proved the difference. Captain Lucas Radebe ended up between the sticks for the majority of the second half after a game ending injury to goalkeeper John Lukic. The game may also stick out in the minds of supporters for the debut of an exciting fresh talent - Harry Kewell. The Whites only won one of their remaining eight Premier League games that campaign as they finished in 13th position and Howard Wilkinson was sacked early the following season.
