Referee Michael Oliver showed red cards to Mathias Doumbe, David McCracken and Peter Leven while substitute Jermaine Beckford scored twice to take his goal tally for the season to 30. Goals from Luciano Becchio and Max Gradel completed the rout. "We pressured them, forced them into mistakes and opened the game up for ourselves and we then took advantage of that and we could have scored more today," reflected Grayson. "It's rare for a team to go down to eight men and was strange to see, but I think we had the game won well by then anyway."
