But when Watson Thompson went into the attic of his home he was transformed and ready to take on any contenders in which used to be the cut and thrust business of fancy dress.

The 71-year-old has been a range of characters down the years from Neptune and Robinson Crusoe to Viking warrior and his legendary Indian trapper.
