Your YEP reached out to fans for memories of the attacking midfielder who nicknames included 'Lash', 'Hot Shot' and 'Thunderboots'.

Responses included:

Peter Collins - The fact Peter is the top goal scorer in Leeds United's history says it all. Peter was famous for having the hottest shot in football in the 1970's, a great goal scorer and a scorer of great goals, including on the biggest stages of all. Like his magnificent volley in the European Cup Final, which was as we know wrongly disallowed. And another pile-driver for Scotland against Zaire in the 1974 World Cup. If Sky did a programme showing all his goals like they do nowadays, it would rival any ‎player you have ever seen.

Paul Milburn - I remember his 30 yard screamer, disallowed against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi at Villa Park,. Another terrible decision that went against us.

Mark Rutter - That signature strike against Barcelona at the Nou Camp which put Leeds within touching distance of the European Cup final. Sat listening to the late, great Peter Jones’ commentary on BBC Radio 2. It was as if the world stood still for a moment. Can that be 45 years ago?

Gunnar Erling Krüger - Lash, my hero, always.

Phil Cuthbertson - He was so good and I think probably underrated. I remember those days so well. World class. I wonder what he would be worth on the transfer market these days.

Peter Brown - As a boy I worshipped Peter.

Diana Silverwood - Remember Lorimer taking a free kick against Liverpool and hitting the ball so hard straight at Tony Hateley's head, knocking him out. And as Hateley is been carried off Bremner shaking Lorimer's hand in full view of Tommy Smith who 10 mins later was sent off.

Pablo Figg - When I was at junior school at lunchtime we would sit in tables of 8. Given a plate, bowl, utensils and a glass. Each glass for whatever reason had a number in the design in the base. Each lunchtime I would hunt round the room looking for a number 7 in the base. Enough said.
