Paul Robinson in focus - A goalkeeper and goalscorer

He was the goalkeeper who made a lasting impression on the Elland Road faithful during his seven seasons with the club.

Paul Robinson had already won the FA Youth Cup with Leeds United before he made his first team debut against Chelsea in October 1998, a game in which he kept a clean sheet. His appearances for the Whites were at first sporadic, punctuated with an impressive display in Champions League match against Barcelona at Elland Road. He became Leeds United's number one goalkeeper after Nigel Martyn was dropped by Terry Venables for requesting a break from pre-season training. Robinson went on to play all 38 games of the 2002/03 season and rounded it off by being voted Player of the Year by the supporters' club. Yet it was the 2003/04 season which arguably provided a career defining moment after scoring an injury-time equaliser before making the decisive save in the penalty shoot-out to deny brave Swindon Town in the Carling Cup.
