Open All Hours - 18 photos of Leeds corner shops down the decades

They have been the retail heartbeat of neighbourhoods and communities across Leeds for generations.

And they have been always there for us when we needed that pint of milk, a loaf of bread, a packet of sweets, a bottle of wine, or groceries. These photos celebrate the humble corner shop which have been part of the city's fabric for generations. They are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
