Memories of Moor Grange County Secondary School during the 1970s

These photos are sure to evoke memories for a generation of pupils who went to this Leeds school during the 1970s.

Moor Grange County Secondary opened in 1960 as a boys' school in LS16 at the junction of Parkstone Avenue and the West Park section of the Leeds Ring Road. The science block was located on the top of a two-storey building above the wood work, metal work, science and art rooms. It also had a set of annexes used as classrooms adjacent to the playground. The school was later renamed Moor Grange High School in the 1970s. The school's staff room and hall were used for the filming of The Beiderbecke Tapes in 1987, shortly before its demolition at the end of the 1980s. Enjoy these rarely-seen photos which are sure to evoke memories for a generation of pupils.
