Memories from Leeds United's 'Battle at the Bridge'

It was a game dubbed as 'The Battle at the Bridge'.

A brutal first half at Stamford Bridge in December 1997 saw Leeds reduced to nine men before half-time. Alf-Inge Håland saw red after 24 minutes before Gary Kelly received his marching orders from referee Graham Poll at the end of the first half. But a gritty, backs-to-the-wall second half performance saw the game finish goalless with the Whites thwarting Chelsea's hopes of drawing level at the top of the Premier League. The x-rated action contrasted with the mood before the match when players and fans stood in silence in memory of Leeds legend Billy Bremner.
