"We all played together in Burley. Community bonfires … street parties ( queen silver jubilee). Friends for life. Only time we went inside was when we were hungry or meals were ready. Respect for every adult. Christmas morning singing carols at 12 elderly neighbours before we could open our Xmas presents. One pack of sweets (opal fruits) to last the whole week. Snow up to one foot deep but then very hot summers. Respect ruled and as kids we all loved it. Meeting and befriending different cultures. Acceptance of everyone that was part of the world we lived in" - Cunjy Cunningham. Photo: YPN
