Leeds in September 2003 - 16 stories making the news

It was the month which featured a game under the Elland Road floodlights which will live long in the memory for a generation of Leeds United fans.

Goalkeeper Paul Robinson proved the hero at both ends of the pitch against Swindon Town in the third round of the Carling Cup. He headed a dramatic injury-time equaliser to send the game into extra time and then turned hero in the penalty shoot-out as the Whites won 4-3 from the spot. Drama of a different kind was also the talk of Leeds as the city hosted the northern film premiere of Calendar Girls.
