John Giles made an immediate impact when he signed for the Whites in August 1963 helping them win promotion to Division One after a seven year hiatus. He would go on to form a formidable midfield partnership with Billy Bremner during the club's most successful period in its history in the 1960s and 1970s. He made 525 appearances in total for the Whites scoring 114 goals and was voted in the official list of the club's 100 greatest players. Enjoy these photo memories, published courtesy of the YEP archive, Getty and Varley Picture Agency, of a midfield genius who is said could place the ball on a sixpence from a distance of fifty yards with either foot.
