How Leeds helped distract its youngsters from the hardships of the Second World War

It was the week long morale boosting event aimed at acting as a distraction for children growing up in wartime Leeds.

Youth Week was organised by the Yorkshire Evening News, a paper which merged with your YEP in the 1960s, and the Leeds Youth Standing Committee. The seven days featured exhibitions, a parade and finished with a grand finale in Roundhay Park. Enjoy these photos plucked from the YEP archive showcasing how a city came together.
