The images highlight a decade of change and economic prosperity for the city and beyond during an era of learning and exploration. They feature highlights from Leeds Civic Week as well as the changing face of well-known city centre landmarks before heading into the suburbs to showcase communities around Leeds. The photos are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks. Cookridge Street Baths in November 1928. Also known as the Oriental and General baths, they were designed by Cuthbert Brodrick cost £13,000 and were opened in 1867.
